Investor notification: Proposed combination with Aurora Investment Trust plc
The Artemis Alpha Trust aims to provide long-term capital and income growth by investing predominantly in company shares. The managers of the trust focus mainly on investments in the UK. They aim to achieve a total return greater than that of the trust’s benchmark index, the FTSE All-Share.
Our managers use benchmark indices to compare performance and levels of risk taken by their funds. However, as active managers, our teams do not select companies and industries based on the proportions of the index they represent.
- Detailed company analysis: the managers seek to identify firms with attractive share prices, strong business models and high-quality management teams. They look for companies that they believe will benefit from favourable long-term trends.
- Flexible: the managers take a flexible approach to investing, with no industry, country or geographic limits. They monitor and manage these exposures in order to spread risk.
The Artemis Alpha Trust is a closed-ended fund, meaning it has a limited number of shares in issue. Investors can buy or sell the trust’s shares on the stockmarket but may have to wait for a buyer or seller to become available. If the trust performs well, the value of the shares can rise beyond the value of the underlying investments held in the trust. This provides the potential to further increase returns in a way that is not available to investors in open-ended funds. However, the share price of a trust may also fall below the value of the underlying holdings, meaning losses may be higher.
