We are stewards of our clients’ capital. We believe stewardship activities can contribute to better-performing companies and therefore returns for our clients. These activities encompass ESG integration, engagement and voting.

Our approach to stewardship

Our approach encompasses…

• stewardship at a firm level, in addressing overarching market and systemic risks, engaging collaboratively across a range of industry initiatives that align with our firm-wide beliefs and objectives
• stewardship at an investment strategy level, principally driven by each individual team within the context of the firmwide approach. This means that a team’s assessment of financial materiality – including the financial materiality of ESG issues – may differ due to factors including investment approach, geographical focus, holding period, portfolio positioning and construction, and risk tolerance.

Both are supported by our Stewardship team who support our fund managers by providing insight, research and analysis, discussion and challenge on ESG, engagement and voting matters. They collaborate internally on stewardship issues and in the wider industry as active participants on a range of initiatives.

In recognition of our commitment to stewardship and ESG, we are a signatory to the Financial Reporting Council’s UK Stewardship Code.
