'Quartile ranking'

Quartile ranking is a common statistical measure used to compare the performance of a fund in relation to its peer group. The performance of funds in a 'sector' is divided into four equally-sized groups (quartiles) ranked from best to worst. For example in a sector of 200 funds, the top 50 would be in the top quartile (quartile 1), being the funds in the top 25% of the group.
